  1. A Separate Piece

    More perpendicular and straight-laced,
handsome and as unusual as I remembered,
    I felt fear's echo,
    joy which had broken out.
I hadn't even known it was there-
I didn't entirely like this new glossy surface.
    Feeling becomes stronger than thought
That's exactly what it was to me,
and what I did not want it to be.
Unfamiliar with the absence of fear,
    preserved with a considerate hand,
    blinked out like a candle.

  2. Waiting
    By Natasha Hubatsek

The rich words of a book
    The beauty of the river
    The feeling of art

    Dishes splattering to the floor
    Pushpins puncturing the walls
The blank stare of an unhappy person

    He barely walked inside
"nature is so much more alive"
    We used to claim

We can wait to see him
We are forever waiting to see him
    In his poems
    In his dreams
    In his thoughts

  3. A Spring Day
    by Kira Carleton

From hill to hill I prance and spring
Surrounded by the dragonflies who made me king
I bask and bathe in the warmth of the sun
And the butterflies frolic and show me fun
A bunny rabbit runs alongside the whirling water
She ran away fast but I still caught her
The clouds of white fur, so soft and fluffy
The waves of scented heather, intoxicatingly stuffy
The boundless freedom, the sweet sappiness
Leaves a taste in my mouth of pure happiness

  4. Annoying
    by Luca Cristo (ironic huh?)

    I hear his statement.
    I am silent.
I wonder if this will escape my restraint.
I see about him what others do not.
I come to his aid in knowing of his aim.
    I hear his statement.

    I pretend it doesn't matter.
I feel good to show it off.
I touch base with his thinking.
I worry I will go to his head.
    I cry when it does.
    I hear his statement.

I understand how he does it.
    I believe that he's false.
    I dream people see this.
I try to shake it off.
    I hear his statement.

  5. Carry
    By Nathanael Grand

    He does not carry
    The weight of the
    Eradicated.
    Trees
    The union square partnership
    Decimated
    If the infestation
    Spreads

  6. Creatively Unaccepted
    By Jaelyn Galvan

    She was losing me.
They try to bring me down.
    I try to avoid it.
Different, and Unique is what I call it
    Complete your dreams
    Things will fall into place
    Someone
Who speaks the same artistic language
    Listening can be powerful
    Words can be hurtful
They open and close the doors
It was not my intention to hurt her
    She hurt me

  7. The Mortals Path
    By: Zoe Levine

    For through dark they stand
Could be hand and heart and bone
    Shining light through unknown land
    Could be sleep under stone

The road goes down over and gone
Still round the corner they may wait
From where life began you can hear the song
A new road or secret gate

He may be seeking it now, watching where it lies
    Many foes lay ahead
He will have many paths; again and again he tries
    Left behind there is dread

Till the dark lifts his hand
Over dead sea and withered land

  8. Memory of Something Long Forgotten
    By: William Adams

    I awoke in the night
    To the ticking
    Of a rhythmic grandfather clock,

    To the crack
    Of embers in a nursery
    Against a soft blowing wind.

    Or was it
A wispy nothing of a voice?

    Weak and faint
As the moon hiding in the sapphire
    Of a daytime sky

    Whatever it was
    It had departed
    And the world

    Was silent and empty
    Once again.

  9. Tourists on NYC

    By: Daina Potter

Tourist minds function without flaws like computers
    Trying
    to calculate
    Surroundings and predicaments......

Shake Shake, The Burger Joing. Burgers!!!
    YUM!!!
    Food is what they want
"A good old fashion American Burger"
    "The Home of Hamburgers"
"Last tastes of The Big Apple"
    They Picture:
    Ketchup Falling on their fingers.
    Lick, Lick.
    Cheese, Cheese, and CHEESE!
Come get your hamburgers! Hot, Hot!
    Come on over!
    It delivers.
What trip to the states would be complete without sampling our
    National Food?
    So DINE OUT!

  10. LONELY

    By Haruka Shiraki

Although the sun has long risen from the unknown
    In this windowless dark room
Reeking of lost words and sounds
It was still endless dark night

    Then the TV turned on
Trying to keep my blood shot eyes on the bright screen
    I watched
A channel for the naive ears

    "A CRIME"
I've been stolen, drugged, locked away in this hell
Yet even I know fake smiles when I see it
Since false smiles are never pretty

    It's frightening to know
    That such creatures exist
Creatures who can easily speak false words
Creatures who can nibble at gruesome talks

I am safe behind these walls
    But walking outside this room
Would be the act of hunting and being hunted
    By such creatures
